This was the first capital works project in development of a new underground coal mine. The seven kilometre long road was a mix of upgrade to existing roads and a new road.  The route traversed an environmentally sensitive area (native forest) and difficult terrain in a high rainfall area. The road, incorporating six bridges, was built over nine months and cost $14M.
